You may be aware that the Association of Private Sector Colleges & Universities (APSCU) is holding its Annual Convention & Exposition June 5-7, 2013 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando.
We are thrilled to announce that iGrad will be a part of this year’s program schedule as a speaker in two different financial literacy sessions at this exclusive event.
Kris Alban from iGrad and Deb Barker-Garcia from Corinthian Colleges will be presenting on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 3:00PM – 3:50PM. Kris’ session, Student Loan Counseling: How to Implement a More Effective Solution, is summarized as follows:
One of the major influencers of student dropout and default is over-borrowing. A recent survey showed that most student loan borrowers accept the maximum loan award without determining how much they actually need. We will cover several eye-opening statistics from this survey, and explain how to implement a program which will actually change student behavior and dramatically improve this statistic.
Rob LaBreche from iGrad, Don Tillery from Kaplan and Paula Craw from ECMC will be presenting on Friday, June 7, 2013, from 10:00AM – 11:15AM. Rob’s session, Financial Literacy-Addressing the Need of The Non-Traditional Student, is summarized as follows:
We often assume that students fresh out of high school know little about financial literacy and money management but many people also assume that a typically older, more experienced non-traditional student has a better grasp on their finances. Why is this and is it really true? Join us for this entertaining session on how non-traditional students can be just as uninformed and how other schools and entities are addressing the need.
In addition to the two sessions we are participating in, this year’s convention includes four dynamic keynote speakers and nearly 80 other breakout sessions.
We would like to encourage your attendance at our sessions and all the convention events. If you haven’t already made your plans to attend this event, you may register for the full convention online now.

We hope to have the privilege of seeing you in Orlando in June.
